last day of this decade...twenty ten.

This has been quite a year... a year of joy. a year of learning. it was Simply Amazing & I'm so thankful for everyone. So many dear dear friends..i love you!
And, so thankful for everything I've accomplished, learned, shared, loved, & created! All with the Lord's help, I know this!
I'm not gonna lie...it's been a difficult year in many ways, but also so rewarding.
I've had a rough few months with my health. There.
I said it out loud.
Many of you have emailed with suspicions or just a prompting..&, I truly do appreciate your concern. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm hoping for a healthier 2011. I've learned a lot through this experience....
No. 1 to really & truly enjoy the pRocess. no matter what.
No. 2 to LOOK for ways to be happy no matter what life brings you.

So, when I say Happy New Year...I mean it. with all my heart.
I know many of us. no. wait. ALL of us are going through one trial or another...& it helps to just be reminded to be happy.
just. be. happy.

I love a New Year & the possibilities it brings. So many hopes & dreams. I hope to be happy with whatever I can do & not get discouraged with my limitations. This is tricky for me. very tricky. But, it's refreshing.
hence, the blog re-design. something to make me smile. something refreshing. something to help me refocus. restore.
I'm sooo looking forward to the online course: Soul Restoration. Perfect.
recommit. resolve.
all things that go right along with our House of 3 Remarkable 2011. *wink*
can't wait to start this new jouRney with you!

So, here's to a clean slate. hit the *refresh* button. take a breath...& let's enjoy this new decade together, focusing on the HAPPY of the New Year!

DIY Christmas No. 4: Gift Tag Flags tutorial

Everyone's getting ready for Christmas...gifts are being wrapped & delivered...it's a busy time of year & it's my favorite. I'm really trying to enjoy it & keep it simple.
So, I've incorporated one of my favorite little DIY projects into our Christmas this year: toothpick flags.

it's as easy as 1.2.3.
supplies:
1. toothpicks or bamboo skewers
2. faux pearls, beads, jewels..whatever you have around
3. House of 3 Printables: Christmas Carols and/or Christmas Cheer backgrounds

steps:
1. Stick the tip of the toothpick in the hole of the pearl, bead or jewel. glue it to keep it sturdy.
2. Cut out a Christmas Carol saying & glue around the tooth pick right under the pearl & cut out a notch.
OR.
3. Cut out a long strip of Christmas Cheer paper & do step 2 above, adding a Christmas Carol saying on top to add a word...OR just type: for you. a gift. to: from: etc. customize with your computer for a fun, festive gift tag...then, top your gift with the little flags!
enjoy!

DIY Christmas No. 3: Christmas Cards

One of my favorite parts of the Christmas Season is sending out & receiving Christmas Cards...I love them! I love creating them, I love putting them together & I love getting the mail everyday during December!  I haven't had a lot of time this year to do full out handmade Christmas cards, soo....
a little Persnickety Prints to the rescue along with brushes from House of 3!
yes. very technical cards. LOL.

so...as the DIY Christmas this year, I wanted to add some do-it-yourself bits:

I had Persnickety print mine out on their scrumptious metallic papers....I have a card & then a 'wrap' of photo collages tied with Divine Twine.
see? folding the collage wrap & tying 150 Christmas cards with Divine Twine counts as do-it-yourself...don't you think?

I also added a fun little address wrap I made out of this kit & put them on these kraft envelopes

I LOVE the juxtaposition of the metallic papers, bakers twine & kraft envies...mmmmmm...now...off to the mail box to get my Christmas card *fix*. Thanks to everyone sending them our way...it truly makes me merry & bright!

DIY Christmas No. 2: Glimmer Glam Trees tutoRial

On the Dec. 1st web show, we showed you some more super easy paper cone Christmas trees to make with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam & Glimmer Glaze

Supplies:
1. House of 3 Parisian Anthology Resist paper: Lovely Lace
2. hot glue
3. scissors
4. Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam: Organic Garden, Mermaid & Pink Lipstick.
5. paper towels
OPTIONAL: any adornments you'd like.

Steps:
1. Roll Resist paper into a cone & affix it with hot glue. Cut off the excess at the bottom to create a cone tree.

2. Pour a bit of your Glimmer Glam onto your  Misting Mat, & with a paper towel dab some of the Glam onto your Resist Paper like we showed you in the web show. Rub it all over the paper to *paint* it on! Let dry.

3. Adorn your trees with anything your heart desires. Above: the pink one I did had a string of small pearls hot glued onto it and topped off with one of our House of 3 Flair sTarbursts with a pearl on the middle.
Above: the green one is topped with a Flair starburst as well, but I added a whole bunch of adhesive backed jewels, too!
And for this blue one, I just added some vintage tinsel, one of our House of 3 Christmas Carols *joy to the world* & some of the Hof3 Christmas Cheer paper topped on a toothpick with a vintage mercury glass ball.
VOILA! super easy, simple, fun paper cone trees all glammed & glitzed up!
enjoy!

say yes to honeysuckle...Pantone's hue of the year 2011

Not what may come to your mind when you think of honeysuckle...but, as they say:
Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.

Here, it's called the HUE of 2011....which makes me thinks of tints & shades of this hue of the year!
I'm not gonna lie...I couldn't be happier about Pantone's choice...Oh, how I do love a dash of HONEYSUCKLE in my life...here's to a cheery 2011!

and...if you've never played with this colorstrology..it's kinda fun!
enjoy.

DIY Christmas No. 1: Doily Trees tutoRial

Last night on the web show, we showed you a plethora of trees you can make in a matter of minutes! So, I wanted to share the doily trees I showed you...they are so fun & sooo easy!

supplies:
1. Doilies *can be purchased in bulk HERE* (small (3") trees: 3 doilies, large (18") trees: 12 doilies)
2. Jeweled Pins *box of 100 found HERE*  (small trees: 4-5, large trees: 20ish)
3. cut Doilies in half.
4. House of 3 Parisian Anthology Ruffle Darlings *pkg. of 3 strips found HERE*. (1 strip)
5. Styrofoam tree form *all sizes can be found HERE*

steps:
1. Pin 1 strip of the ruffle on the bottom of the tree form to create a skirt.
2. Starting from the bottom, take doily half & pin it right above the skirted ruffle. Continue all up the tree as you can get this look, pinning the jeweled pins to look like ornaments.

3. As you reach the top of the tree, simply create a cone with an opening large enough to accommodate whatever you want to use as a topper.

For this one below, it's larger to accommodate the huge pearl.

**for smaller toppers, like the ones below, make the cone part smaller & use the pins to make the top.
4. With a pin or toothpick, add topper. **the little turquoise mercury glass bobble is from Paper Valise. It looks like they don't have anymore of the turquoise, but they do have the silver. mmmmm!

The front of this little Lolly topper is made out of vintage music paper & then I added a *joyful* strip off of the House of 3 Christmas Carols printable sheet. *loving this, btw: I use it on everything!*
Then, the back is one of our Parisian Anthology corrugated cardboard elements....the music is perfect!

enjoy your DIY Christmas Doily Trees!
