paRis re-cap: day 1

I met Sande & Shimelle at our hotel & we were off...no time to waste in Paris! First...walking around the Latin Quarter & Notre Dame (our tour guide was 13 yr. old Kate & her grandmother...thanks, girls for a wonderful stay! *wink*)

...love the whole vibe there! It's artsy, full of character & makes my heart sing.
There's this fabulous old bookstore across the street from Notre Dame...it was so charming & I loved taking pictures with Sande & Shimelle...love that we are at the same place, at the same time, taking pictures of the same thing, but we see different things.

Walked along the Seine, took more pictures...yes, this is one thing I LOVE about Paris..the photo ops! This guy was sharing the sounds of Paris on the bridge...Notre Dame in the background, blossoms & sunshine...it was a perfect day!
And, of course the shops are just as delightful as ever...full of character & the goodies we found? ahh....can't wait to show you lucky winners what I'll be sending you! *wink*

Dinner with friends, on the Rue Clare with Orangina...didn't I say it was a perfect day? The 3 of us were loving this stuff...it's scrumptious!...bye bye diet coke! hello Orangina!

A little trip to the Eiffel Tower at dusk for some night shots...ending of my first day...perfect!
more to come...

Countdown....

Today is House of 3's Day 3: Easter Scripture Countdown! A full description of the projects & kits for sale are HERE> You can read all about the celebRation & tRadition in our home each year for the week of Easter countdown! I truly LOVE this project...it is so meaningful to our family & brings such a special Spirit in our home!

So, I've had a bunch of emails about the
chalkboard wall I have shown with this project. We painted this small wall with chalkboard paint. It was a very non descript wall...but, it is in a very high traffic area in our home.

We see it right before we leave our home...we see it when we walk into our family room. We see it
all the time.

So, I wanted to make it a FUN wall!
Hence the giant chalkboard!
before & after!~
Now we can draw, leave notes, hang stuff...ahh! I love this little slice o' wall now!
Have a wonderful weekend...I know I will! ....family in town, going to General Conference
together...busy, but so wonderful! I love being 'filled up' inside...I gather such strength each time I come away from these Conferences!
then...I'm off to Paris!
Most likely I will not be blogging until after Paris...

Happy Easter & please, please show me your Easter Countdowns...I'm sure you'll inspire me!

Those that know Paris, please let me know of good spots to shop, see, etc! This is my 3rd time going, but each time I fall in love with a new area of Paris!
btw..you can still leave comments on this thread for a prezzie from Paris...who knows? I might even pick more than one! *wink*

au revoir!

Create

{credits: border, background paper, Easter Brushes, medallion brush, quote from D. Uchtdorf *see below.}
it's Day 2 of our House of 3 Easter Celebration! And today, Janet takes you to a new level of creativity! I love this! She made the cutest invitations! See HERE for the full text on this! *the great thing is: you can use ANY of the Blog Couture, to create your own cards, invitations, etc!

LOVE this creative boost! I'm having so much fun getting that creative high. You know what I'm talking about, right? I love to take a creative challenge & take a certain product, color scheme or task at hand and beautify it.

Yesterday, I passed the table & that Dessert First card was still there.
I stopped, picked it up & giggled.
It gave me such pleasure to know I created that little card for my family to enhance our family tradition!
My husband saw me & we both laughed.
He said: I'm the same way...I'll go back & look at a really amazing image I took on the Electron Microscope (he's a scientist) & get excited about what I created.

We all do it. No matter who we are. No matter what we've created. We all create differently...because we are all different! And that's what so great!

This House of 3 Easter Celebration isn't just about frivilous stuff, imo. It's about creating something meaningful & beautiful for those we love!...to celebRate!!

I blogged about this in January, and today my sweet friend Margie sent me this video to go along with it. It speaks to me. It gives me chills. It talks about listening to our creative spirit!
enjoy your process today as you create a beautiful world around you! R

tick..tock..is it April 1st yet?

When it is (at 12:01 a.m)...check this out!
Happy April Fool's Day! Totally excited about all the goodness over at House of 3.
but...also
fun in the Farrer home:
It's a family tradition to have 'Backwards Day' today.
When I was young, we'd complain to my mom about things like,
'Why do we always have to eat our dinner before we can have dessert?"
"Why do we always have to do our chores before we can play?"
"Why do we always have to do our homework before we can hang out!"

So, in her brilliance, she made a proclamation: One day a year we'd throw out all the 'rules' & do it backwards.
So...We wake up & do our daily schedule backwards! Dessert first.
Then , dinner.
Then, school...& after school we do our daily chores/jobs.
As a mom..it's fun to continue this fun tradition! My kids love dessert first! And so do i..i love the whole concept...dessert first.

My mom was very smart....we felt like at least one day out of the year we got to have it 'our way'. Dessert first. The best first...no waiting. best thing first. love it!

Traditionally, we always had strawberry shortcake. But, since we are Gluten Free now...

I stayed up making Pavlova for our traditional 'Backwards Day' dessert!
Thanks to my dear friend, Em, for introducing this delight! mmm*wah!

We woke up...had our strawberry Pavlova & it's SNOWING! Can you believe it?
Oh well...focus today on 'the best first'...treat your family. Make a craft. Decorate your house. Do a fun project...all before you have to do something else!
Make these cute Easter Bag Printables! It's refreshing!

Happy Backwards' day!
