A glamping we will go....

What is Glamping you ask? Glam + Camping = Glamping.
I got the bug. & I have Pinterest to blame for it. There's soooo much goodness over there in terms of visual inspiration...& I have been falling in LOVE with Glamping.
I started to pin. & pin. & pin. & get more & more inspiRed!

Glamping is the perfect marriage of my love for decorating my space & Jeff's love for camping.
So....we started on a little adventure.  We looked on Craigslist, Ebay & our local classifieds: KSL.

This lovely tent is 495 pounds...wow. So...i started thinking...what about a travel trailer?
Vintage travel trailers are tricky...we KNEW we'd have to fix it up & it would be trashed. So, we were expecting a lot of work...but, we knew we needed good 'bones.'  I fell in LOVE with the old vintage Shastas. oh my.

But, they are more expensive that what I wanted to pay...I really wanted to only pay about as much as that tent. Fix it up just enough to have fun glamping...not a full restoration project.

Loved this inspiration...so, we looked at a bunch...narrowed it down to what we wanted: size, price, amenities, etc. And,on Saturday morning, we went & checked out the one that fit everything we wanted.
We saw her.

& bought her. & brought her home.
I've been prepping her, washing her & today I'm ready to paint her. Here's a lil Insty 'Before'.
I'll save the really heinous Befores for the wonderful Afters. *wink*
But, for now...I'll be busy...Thanks, Pinterest! I'm going to cReate!

Learning to Sail....

Loving this quote so much...it inspires me to be strong & learn about myself, life & HOW to go about 'sailing my ship.' And, case in point, I'm learning that even the MOST amazing Creative Ideas that come at me like a crashing wave....well, I have to learn to sail  that ship, too. & I have to learn what is best for me, my family & my health...so. I'm taking it one step at a time. No worries...these little steps will be really fun to get to the BIG goal. But, it may take a while. It's OK...cuz one thing I HAVE learned about sailing my ship is: Enjoy sailing! *grin*

But, inspiration is a funny thing... I can get inspired by a quote visually as well...This quote is actually the inspiration behind my new collection- Nautical Chic- going up on the Rhonna Designs site next week!

And, of course, I'm totally inspired by fashion as well...LOVING the fresh, crisp feel of the whole Nautical trend.  It's everywhere & I'm aching for the Summer sun & fun....so, it was natural to create this fun collection.  Just browzing through Pinterest under 'Nautical' was super inspiring...loved the creative process of this collection!

So, happy weekend & come back next week for the release of my new Nautical Chic Collection!

How Do You Do That: Social Media...& how I use it.

I've had lots of questions about this stuff lately, so I thought I'd have a little chat with you about Social Media and how I use it.
Who uses Social Media
What IS Social Media
Where do I get on to learn about Social Media? and
How do I use Social Media?

Who uses Social Media?  Anyone. everyone.
What IS Social Media? Here's how I see it:

Twitter is like a quick-fist bump-high five- kind of a place. You say hi to your friends really quick just to let them know what you're up to...
A few fist bumping tips:
*follow your friends or people that Tweet about stuff you're interested in.
* Tweets are only allowed 140 characters, so you have to be concise!
*You call your friends by their Twitter handles which is their name with the @ sign in front of it.
*Twitter has things called hashtags that start with the # sign. Hashtags are anything you want them to be: a trend, an idea, a subject...you name it.
*When you want to shout out what someone else says you Re-Tweet it or RT.

Facebook is more like a sit down-have a drink-catch up-with a little more detail- kind of place...like you are meeting your friends at a cafe or coffee shop to chat it up.
A few chatting tips:
*You 'friend' someone or accept their friend request to be able to see their wall & all their info.
*You update your status & tell friends what you're doing. Discussions can occur & it's fun!
*You write on your friends' walls.  Remember, everyone can see those messages. If you want to be more discreet (leaning over the table & whispering something only you can hear) you'd send them a Message.
*Facebook has become a place where you can have 'fan pages' since you can only have up to 5,000 friends.
*You can quickly keep in touch with FB friends by 'Like'ing their status updates. You can post pictures, links, etc. very quickly.

Blogging is more like you're coming over to my house, we are in our comfy PJs & sit up all night talking, laughing, sharing, & really getting down to the nitty gritty.
A few blogging tips:
*It's your personal blog, so really...you can blog about whatever you want. You decide what your blog is about: you? food? crafts? giveaways? photography? writing? trends & fashion?
*Keep it positive.  My whole mantra is: uplift & inspire. enjoy the journey. so I try try TRY to keep it upbeat & positive. I know...life is not always like that. But, this is my PERSONAL tips & trick about Social Media...After all..Social Media can be used to bring women together...empower & do GOOD in the world!  I'm just telling you how I use it! LOL!
*Tag or label your entries so others can find or search your blog.  There's a WHOLE bunch of other stuff like SEO & jazz...but that is for another post.
*You can also add RSS feed to get the updates on the blogs you follow OR just follow it to get the update in your blogger dashboard.

Instagram is an APP that is a visual way to share your journey. It's now offered for iPhone, iPad, iTouch, & now Android. Facebook bought them out & is not connected to FB.

You take a picture on your phone & then IG (instagram) has various frames & filters...You upload  or post these pix to the Instagram feed on your phone.
A few Instagram tips:
*You CAN view online at Webstagram.
*You can also use other apps to add more filters, text, etc. I've shared some of my fave apps HERE & how to use them HERE>
THEN...after you have your photo how you likey...you upload to instagram. voila!
*You can follow friends, like or comment on their photos, & add friends to see their feed.
*When you want to add or tag someone onto a photo you put their username & @ so...if you wanted to post a pic & make sure I saw what you said or did you'd add: @rhonnafarrer to it, then it comes up in my feed & I see it!

Pinterest (you need an invitation) is a social 'pin board' used for inspiration. There, you can go & get ideas for anything! From fitness to cooking to creating to photography to humor!  I see it as a huge bulletin board where I pin up something that inspires me or I want to remember. Then, I make different boards so my friends & family can see.
A few Pinterest tips:
*Learn the etiquette of Pinning. You can go HERE & HERE to learn, but please educate yourself. There's a lot of 'ignorant pinning' going on out there!
*Pin & create your own boards to uplift & inspire. Keep in mind that you can follow your favorite people.
*Your 'feed' will show 'Pinners You Follow'. But, if you go on 'everything', beware. You may (or your kids) see something you didn't want to see. I'm amazed at the language & images that are pinned. No thank you. That's not uplifting OR inspiring to me.  So, be careful!
*Keep updated on new updates & improvements by checking out their official blog. Here, they will tell you any changes, or great things coming!
*Be mindful of copyright. THis is mentioned in the etiquette, but there's a lot of infringement going on & needs to have it's own bullet point. Many people will find an image, pin it & not give proper credit. This started a big hubaloo in the artistic community & is still under going lots of controversy! Just be careful. Be respectful. & don't pin something w/o proper credit or links. I've had images of mine pinned & floating around Pinterest that weren't even linked or associated with it. Luckily, some of my followers noticed & commented on the pin, giving credit! Thanks, girls! We can help one another in Social Media!
*These boards are not private (yet)...anyone can see, so when I pin or repin something, keep that in mind.

Where do I go to learn about Social Media? Google. search. you will find.

Now...you might be asking:

How do I use Social Media? Think about what YOU want to do? promote your blog? site? product? talent? make friends? do good? spread joy?...decide & then learn about that niche.

It takes time. There's a whole community right there on your computer & phone...& the best part is: it's free. fun. & can be really creative & you can DO GOOD in this world! That is my favorite part about it...see? I found out what I wanted to use Social Media for...for becoming more creative. learning. sharing. & yes..promoting. But, isnt' that cool? all at your fingertips.

Personally, Twitter is where I do most of my 'sharing'....So, if you aren't following me...get on & follow!
:)

Set up your accounts so they are all intertwined: i.e. I have my Instagram connected to my Twitter connected to my Facebook.  So, if I upload or post a photo onto IG, it automatically goes directly to Twitter & then FB, so I only have to do one post.

And, if I'm not posting a photo, my Twitter goes directly to my FB, so-again...only one post.

Now, my blog is a bit different...I don't have it connected to anything...I have my own reasons for that..but, I have found how it works for ME.

You can do that, too. Just figure out what YOU want to do, what your purposes are & what you want out of it...then, set it up!
There's so much more I could go into...but- that's for another post.
For now....

inspiRation: fitness

Yea...this is my
No. 1 reason
WHY I'm training for a marathon.  I've had so many questions about it...I thought I'd address it here on my blog.

Q: WHEN are you doing your marathon?

A: J & I registered for the Sept. 17th Top Of Utah Marathon...so, I'm on an 18 week training program.

Q: HOW are you training?

A: I found this training program that worked with my levels of running & looked do-able....Hal Higdon is trusted & I was comfortable with this training...BUT>..I had to switch around the days & how I cross trained, rested & had my long runs on the days that work with my schedule.  I'm on week 3 & so far it's working great for me. I do strength each day except rest days...because I'm trying to get my strength back up after being sick for so long...I was sooo out of shape. But...this is SO true for me right now.

I'm getting stronger & feeling sooo much better.

Q: How do you have time? Doesn't it eat up a lot of your schedule?

A: Well...I'm having to MAKE time.  Yes, it is & will take up time in my schedule...but, with the way things are in my life right now...NOW was better than later, I"m sure. It will NEVER be easy. convenient. But, I want to do it.

Q: Do you feel any different?

A: I had to giggle at this one. Even into week 3, the answer is YES!  I'm feeling more FIT. more VIGOROUS. & I'm starting to SHINE like the old Rhonna. I am getting STRONGer! It feels great.
...doesn't mean it's easy. or going to be easy....but, I"m committed. I'm determined. I'm doing it.

Source: google.com via Rhonna on Pinterest

Q: or 'comment'...You must be a twig exercising so much & not being able to eat sugar, wheat, bread, pasta...all the good stuff.

A: Again...I giggled at this one...
NO. I LOL at this one!
My answer is:
NO.
I"m not a twig.
With my sickness & my whole body being out of whack...my metabolism is sooooo wonky.  I haven't lost many pounds.  Can you believe it? oy! At first I was getting frustrated. (I put on a good 12-15 lbs. & on normal sized people that looks like 20-30 lbs.)  But, then, I realized....I'm not doing this to get skinny. I"m doing it to get strong. I know my body can be strong again....but, it will take time.  I have to be patient!

Q: So, how are you doing it?

A: I have to stay motivated & find my strong! So, these things are helping:

1. Logging my miles & workouts on Daily Mile.  I love that I can log in & share w/ others.

2. A helpful FREE app called: RunKeeper. It is a keeper, that's for sure! It works with your phone's GPS & allows you to be coached, or on your own. It tracks & tells you how far you are going, how fast you are going & how many calories you are burning. You can also listen to your playlist or other music. (see below) It's fab!

3. Motivating Music: I HAVE to run with music...it's not fun for me to hear me breathing hard & my feet hitting the trail. (albeit, some runners love that!) So, I've got a playlist that is MY kind of MOTIVATING music. It gets me pumped up! And..I have also found that I LOVE listening to my Pandora Radio while I'm running, too!

4. Stay visually & mentally focused. My Running Inspiration Pinterest board helps me with that! I love the quotes & pictures that get me focused....I'm always looking for inspiration to pin on my board, so if you come across any....send them my way! You can never have too much inspiration.

Q: What are you eating?

A: I'm following the Eat Clean way of living....it follows what my dr. has told me to do...AND there are lots of yummy recipes & motivation on the site. I love Tosca Reno's 'Recharged' book & have found a lot of inspiration in it..but, again...haven't lost many lbs...*a*hem...I keep saying it doesn't matter..I'm getting healthy & strong! LOL!

So...there ya have it...
I.
am.
in.
training.
mode.

& lovin' it! ...totally inspiRing to get strong & see how amazing our human bodies are! I love it & feel so thankful...I know I say it a lot lately...but, Never EVER take your health for granted.

ooh la la!  vintage Paris! divine, dahling.

& adore these balloons as 'hot air' balloons. The pink ones are by my Spark Sister, April...she's brill.

and this tablescape made my jaw DROP the first time I saw it...still love it.

I'm surrounding myself with 'uplifting' things...crafting, etc. maybe I'll take a pic & show you?
What are YOU surrounding yourself with that is *uplifting*?

courage to start....marathon training

It's official.
We've signed up.
registered.
got our hotel.
and...the marathon training begins. I'm not in it to get sub 3 or anything...just to finish...
*gulp*
just to have the courage to start this training program & do it!

This is something that scares me so much...but, I've always wanted to do this... & I was sooo motivated by this quote by Jillian Michaels
"Every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, perfect peace, health & abundance."

so...bring it
I've mustered up the courage...don't know if I'll still have it at mile 20...LOL..but, I'm doing it!!!!
your challenge today: pick something (anything) that scares you & do it...you have the ability to transform it into power!

&...speaking of Jillian...I'm so excited for tonight's episode of The Biggest Loser....talk about inspiring!

lots of catch up, please...

Do you ever feel that way? I have so many wonderful things that have been going on...& I will never get a chance to blog them..I'm sure. So, I just needed to STOP today & remember the good times. oy!

But rather than getting overwhelmed, paralyzed & discombobulated...I'll focus on 1 thing today:

Mother's Day...it was divine!

I was treated like a queen...Jeff is so so good to me...have I said how much I adore him? well, I do. I love him so much. He made me some gluten free cake bites that were deeeeeeevine!
And our kids were amazing, too...so thoughtful & my prezzies were all from the heart. I loved it.
We went to church & had a wonderful morning...but, then I got home & got sick. yea. NOT fun.
I did get to talk to my mom on the phone & tell her how much I love her & appreciate her...& of course, I cried. Mother's Day does that to me, I guess...& expressing from my heart how thankful I am for the kind of mom I have...she really is so amazing.
in.
every.
single.
way.

Hoping you all got to enjoy the free printables I gave you for Mother's Day! And from the looks of it...over 2,000 of my mother friends downloaded them! yea!!!!
Have a happy Tuesday..I've got a little goodie for you tomorrow! See you then!
p.s.  Are you LOVING the new Pinterest iPhone app? I AM!!!! too much, I might add! but, it does make me creatively happy! If you'll notice...you can add a 'pin it' to any image on your blog...so, feel free to PIN my word art..I love seeing how many of you have pinned & say such sweet things! hugs!
